Album Notes:

"heart thaw"
This is a track of various field recordings heralding the change of seasons in Northampton, MA. All sounds captured reflect the dichotomy between monotonous daily activities and the effervescent novelties of laughter and springtime. Chrissy imagines rhythmic cycles and juxtapositions through deep listening, translating them into a short but sweet score, a vestige of a particular moment in time.

"Pin River (2021), May Lin - Pin River - Maya Lin"
This is a response to the art work Pin River (2021) by sculpture artist and architect Maya Lin. It incorporates the plucking of strings on a baby grand piano with various textures and instances of spring melt water near the Mill River in Northampton, MA.

"Watermotor"
This is a score made to Trisha Brown's iconic solo dance Watermotor (1978), captured on film by Babette Mangolte. It is best experienced while watching the accompanying film. Chrissy blends the plinking of small handheld instruments such as a kalimba, toy xylophone, and melodica with her running whispered commentary to give light and rhythmicality to this seemingly flowing, amorphous solo.

COPYRIGHT CONSIDERATIONS: I do not own the rights to the film Watermotor and claim no ownership fo the film. It is freely and publicly available on many streaming video platforms.

"The Night Window (Binaural)"
This is a journey through environmental soundscape and vocal song into the Boundary Waters between Canada and Minnesota, where Chrissy has done many canoe backpacking trips. The song "Though my Soul may SEt in Darkness" is composed by Carl Weingarten with lyrics taken from the poem "Twilight Hours: A Legacy of Verse" by Sarah Williams.

"Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light. I have known the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night, fearful of the night."
